72 Hour Waiting Period – NC is one of only five states with that long of a waiting period, and a recent study showed waiting periods had little impact on a person’s decision to have an abortion. Patients must also listen to a biased state-mandated script written by anti-abortion lawmakers and filled with medical inaccuracies meant to shame and scare people seeking abortion care.Minors can only get an abortion with written parental consent or by petitioning the court for a judicial waiver, a process that can be time-consuming, intimidating, and often dependent on the knowledge and personal beliefs of clerks, judges, and other court personnel.
